Was contacted by
the seller almost directly after ordering it, for the customisation details. My (now) fiance really likes it! Did not expect the moss in it to be real, but it gives a real nature vibe!

Meriel
Very happy with this beautiful ring box.
Ashkin Studio helped design my engraving based on a bespoke design I'd seen in a customer picture - thank you!! I'd recommend keeping the ring box upright as the clasp can loosen if jiggled about.

Ring Boxes
A ring box holds the ring, but what people actually remember is the day it got used, the proposal, the ceremony, the moment someone opened it in front of the person they loved. That's the part that stays. Some boxes are foam-lined plastic, the kind any jewelry counter sells by the dozen. Others are hand-carved wood, built to end up on a shelf instead of a drawer, still doing the job twenty years later. What decides which one is right usually comes down to the wood itself and how big the box needs to be for what's inside. Some people are shopping for one very specific moment, a proposal or a gift for someone they love, and those live in our dedicated collections. This page covers the full range, and what actually matters when picking one.
What Is a Ring Box
A ring box keeps the ring from getting lost or scratched. That's the base job. It also does a second one: presentation. How a ring gets handed over, opened in front of someone, at a proposal or as a wrapped gift, changes how it lands. After that moment, most boxes don't get thrown out. They become where the rings actually live, instead of a drawer or a jewelry box already crowded with other pieces.
Choosing the Right Ring Box
Figure out where the box will actually be used before anything else. Ceremony display, pocket for a proposal, or a spot on the dresser at home, each one wants a different size and closure. Daily use needs a latch or hinge that won't work loose after a few months; a simple friction lid usually doesn't cut it long term. Interior fit matters more than people expect too. Too loose and the ring slides around and picks up scratches. Too tight and you're fighting the box every time you open it. Wood and metal outlast plastic and cardboard, so material is worth paying attention to if you want the thing to still work in five years, not just look fine in one photo.
Wooden Ring Boxes
Most people land on wood. It ages instead of wearing out, a few years in, the color's slightly deeper, there's a bit of wear, and it reads as character instead of damage. Handmade pieces take that further since grain runs differently on every single one. Two boxes in the same finish still won't match exactly, unlike a molded box where every unit is identical. If you want something that ends up as a keepsake instead of getting tossed, wood is where that starts.
Personalization Options
A name, initials, or a date makes a box belong to one specific couple instead of anyone who bought the same model. Laser engraving is the standard method, it's cut into the wood, not printed on top, so it stays. Dates are the obvious pick, but a short phrase or coordinates work too. Once a box is engraved, people don't swap it out. That's really the point, not decoration for its own sake, just a reason to keep the same box.
Protecting Your Rings
A soft interior, moss, velvet, or foam, stops the ring from rubbing against bare wood. A latch that actually holds shut matters more than people think; boxes get knocked around more than expected, especially mid-ceremony. Closed also keeps out dust and humidity, both dull a finish faster than normal wear. That's really all a ring needs: a decent lining and a latch that closes properly.
Craftsmanship and Keepsake Value
You can tell a cheap box from a good one by whether the lid sits flush and the hinge catches cleanly. Handmade pieces usually get more attention paid to exactly that. A box that still closes properly after five years means more sitting on a shelf than one that started sticking after five months. If you're keeping it long-term, that's where the extra cost upfront pays off.
How to Care for a Wooden Ring Box
Wipe with a dry or barely damp cloth, nothing abrasive, and don't soak the wood. Keep it out of direct sun and humidity, both warp and fade the finish fast. If it's engraved, skip cleaning products that could pool in the lettering and discolor it.
