Dark Celtic Ring Box | Gothic Pagan Wedding Ring Holder
Description
We stained the beech for this one until it was almost black. The knot on the lid is yours to pick. Inside there's preserved eucalyptus as the filler, and the rings sit right on it. If your wedding has candles, this is the box we'd choose.
Which Celtic knot goes on dark wood
The engraving is quiet on this wood. Tilt the lid toward a window or a candle and the knot shows up, in flat light it hides a little. We like that, but you should know before you order. Two knots look best to us:
- Triskele, the three-armed spiral. A very old one: there's one at Newgrange, carved around 3200 BC
- Shield knot. Square and sturdy, made for protection, and its lines stay sharp on dark wood
The other knots from the list work too: trinity, love knot, Serch Bythol, eternity knot, Dara, tree of life and Claddagh. Got your own sketch or a bindrune? Put it in the order notes.
What it looks like by candlelight
Open the lid in a dim room and the green jumps out against the wood. That contrast is great for photos, too. Black, burgundy or deep green outfits and decor all go with it. The latch and feet are antique bronze, a bit worn looking on purpose. Put it on an altar and nobody will guess it's new.
Where it fits
Pagan handfastings, gothic weddings, autumn ceremonies in castles or old churches. A bright garden wedding? Take the golden oak Celtic ring box instead.
Quick answers
Is it really black?
Not quite. It's a very dark brown, and in low light you'd call it black. The grain still shows through. For proper black, see our black gothic ring boxes.
Which knot for a pagan handfasting?
Any of them. The triskele and the trinity knot come up a lot because they have three parts: land, sea and sky for some people, maiden, mother and crone for others. But if the shield knot is the one that gets you, go with that.
Do the leaves need care?
No watering, they're preserved. Keep the box out of the sun and off damp shelves.
